How To Help

Volunteer

Lend a Hand

Volunteers are integral to our organization. A little bit of time can make a big difference.

We have included a list of volunteer opportunities that are typically available. If you would like to help please fill out the form below and we will follow-up with you to get you involved with the Friends.

  • We are looking for people ready to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand. This could be anything from tearing off porches to digging up bricks to painting or refinishing furniture. This is a hands-on opportunity.

  • SandFest is a major volunteer effort over the course of a week in early July. We need volunteers for setup/teardown, admissions, sculptor refreshments, volunteer check in, the Kid Zone (where they get to build their own creations) and a variety of other activities throughout the event.

  • Do you like to spend time making connections on Facebook? Do you "tweet" regularly? Do you love to share photos and videos on Instagram? This job is for you! We are looking for a social media savvy person who is willing to devote a little bit of their time to help get the word out on all the great things that are happening at the Fort Gratiot Light Station.

  • Guided tours of the Fort Gratiot Light Station and operations of the Gift Shop are part of the activities of the Port Huron Museum. Click on the link or call Gina Porrett at 810-982-0891, ext. 118 to learn more.
